Hello Shedians! I have been writing the script for my new feature film for around 5 months now. So I decided to blog my progress throught this new project. All I can say is that the title of the film is called 'Masterpiece'. A bold title I know but it perfectly captures what this film is about. I am currently on the second draft of the script and I am painting story-boards (mostly to capture the atmosphere of the piece) of important scenes.

I am waiting to finish the script with my writing partner Rhys Hills, before applying for funding from any source I can find. We will have storyboards (my art degree finally comes in hand) a feature film showreel (shot on zero budget) Psychosomatic', and a great script (Fingers crossed).

I have booked a week off work on 2nd March so I'm locking the door, taking off the phone, topping up on high powered spirits, and writing my arse off to finish the second draft.

I can't wait!

Keep you all posted, Andrew.

Best of luck Andrew, may I recommend disconnecting the broadband while you're at it. I've wasted many hours of writing time doing "research", i.e. watching Red vs. Blue on youtube. Any chance of you putting Draft 1 on the scriptshed?

That is a mighty fine idea James. The internet can be the biggest distraction of all! At the moment the story is top secret but I will be calling for crew on this website and then giving out full scripts. The story is the most personal thing I have ever written, I'm really dredging my soul throught it. Keep your eyes peeled on this blog (in about a month's time) and ill realise more news when I can. What I will do soon is post some artwork for the movie maybe in the next two weeks I have this great idea for the poster which I'm going to make an oil-painting of and then scan into the computer to add the graphics. Sorry I have to be so secretive about the plot but half of the story belongs to my friend Rhys Hills who is also bearing his soul for this! I hope I can show you something as soon as possible! Andrew.

First look poster Artwork in progress! I have drawn up a quick poster idea (more for getting into the atmosphere of the piece. I've set my avatar as the poster but does anyone know how to upload pictures onto this site? It would be more helpful to show all artwork in progress, thanks Andrew.

Thanks Ryan, Adam Partridge gave me a phone-call to go over my ideas. I am trying to get a draft into him by the end of march. I've got this week off now and I'm 42 pages in on the second draft (fingers crossed it goes well)! Thanks for the advice though Ryan, Andrew.

Hey everyone, Iv'e finished the second draft and I am now awiating pieces from Rhys (my writing partner). It's been a soul dredging experience!

Once I've received the pieces from Rhys I can start (hopefully) the final draft.

And I've changed my avatar to another new poster idea, (the images are coming thick and fast now). Thanks everyone and I'll keep you up to date!

3rd draft done and dusted. I've been hammering away for weeks now and finally I've got to the point where you don't want to change anything. I'm still waiting on the final pieces from Rhys to complete a final draft. Not long now!!!!

I've finished the 5th draft with my writing partner's pieces now included. I've also started to storyboard some set pieces and we are discussing the look of the film now.

The story has two threads and now they have to be totally different visually, One is based in the real world which has a palette of greys and greens. Also this story set in the real world will be shot very still (mostly tri-pod set ups, with smooth pans and tilts).

The fictional story has a palette of reds and oranges and frantic hand held camera work. I am currently looking at filters and lenses to accomodate these two very different looks.

Overall this project is going very smoothly! I want to get a final draft completed for the Swansea film festival and then I can think about showing the script to trusted (and more importantly honest) people!

Also the Welsh film agency want to read it as soon as it is completed, so I have to make sure I'm 100% on it before giving it out. Back to writing, I'm off work tommorrow so I'm pulling an all-nighter, fingers crossed, Andrew.

P.S. I'll keep you all up-dated on any progress!!!

Psychosomatic is being covered in the Barry and District newspaper, on page 3. That's another thing crossed off my list of to do's before I die. Be a page 3 model (well almost a model, I haven't got my breasts out though)

First look!

Hey everyone I've Finished the 6th draft of my new film 'Masterpiece' it's been a very long journey writing this but I am very proud of it! Here is a treat for all of you, it's a sample scene (that doesn't give any of the story away but gives you a feel for the dialouge) I hope you enjoy this first look:-

INT THE KING WILLIAM IV ? EVENING

(Martin holds a large scotch and sits in one of the booths. The clientele consists of hard-faced men quietly drinking. Martin stares at his drink. Unbeknownst to Martin a disheveled man named Michael approaches. He is dirty and un-kempt.)

MICHAEL
Are you a student?

MARTIN
What?

MICHAEL
Pardon me; you look like a man of intelligence.

(Michael sits opposite Martin in the booth. He is clearly drunk but coherent.)

MICHAEL
Forgive me; I noticed your face which say?s to me that you are a man of intelligence.

MARTIN
I was a student.

(Michael bangs the table with his hand.)

MICHAEL
Ha! I knew it. You can always tell a person who has studied. Let me ask you something if I may.

(Michael brandishes a half-drunk bottle of whisky from his pocket and puts it on the table. His nails are long and dirty.)

MICHAEL
Do you know how it feels to ask someone to part with their money when you both know there is no intention of paying it back?

MARTIN
I can?t say I do.

MICHAEL
Do not pity me son. I have a beautiful wife and two daughters. My eldest is a working girl of the streets.

(Michael puts his finger to his forehead.)

MICHAEL
The money she earns keeps me in this.

(Michael points to his bottle of whisky.)

MICHAEL
So I need not your pity. All I ask is an ear for my story.

(The company in the pub laughs and the landlord shouts over at Michael.)

BAR-TENDER
Stop harassing the customers Michael.

MARTIN
(To the Bar-Tender)
It?s no bother.

MICHAEL
(Shouting)
SEE! It?s no bother. I knew you were an intellectual.

(Michael fills up Martin?s drink with whisky.)

MICHAEL
You see this bottle. I paid for it by selling my daughters fancy under-wear. Now she is losing custom because of me. I may regret it tomorrow but as the whisky flows today I have no qualms.

MARTIN
Do you think that?s fare?

MICHAEL
Fare! Of course not, do you take me for a fool?

MARTIN
I don?t know you.

MICHAEL
A fine answer! The truth is I haven?t been home for nine days. Do you know what it?s like to wake up on a street road? I?ll tell you, it?s not that bad. But I daren?t return home until I have drunk the money dry.

(Michael lets out a cackle and wheeze.)

MICHAEL
Then I can start the apologies, naturally after some time they will forget. And then!

MARTIN
You can steal something else.

MICHAEL
(Laughing outrageously)
Yes, you are an intellect! In life we need to see what and who is most important to us and drag them kicking and screaming with us. Human beings will put up with anything you throw at them. Look at me I?m a perfect example.

(Martin pushes the filled glass of whisky towards Michael along with a twenty pound note.
Martin then exits the pub. Michael sits and picks up the twenty.)

MICHAEL
See, I knew he was an intellectual!

forgive the format it's in, this was the only way to post this on here! Andrew.

Hello Everyone, I have finally finished the script to a working state now.

I have a date for the shoot of my 2nd feature film which is the 9th of August
and runs to the 5th of September. I am in the process of applying for funding
from several investors and companies. I have a total of two thousand pounds so far
hopefully this number will change on the run up to filming.

I am now looking for enthusiastic crew and actors who are willing to take up the challenge of
this shoot.

My plan is to rent a flat for the month which will be the hub and set as well as my house (both of which will be in Barry). I am looking for a select hard-working crew who can multitask and contribute to the undertaking of this monumentus task.

If anyone is interested in working for 2-3 weeks in a holiday camp environment and making a full feature film, then this is your chance.

I need all the help I can get! If you are interested then send me a message or reply to this blog and we shall take it from there!

Thanks everyone and I hope to hear from some of you in these most exciting of times!!

Andrew.
